Livi swims pretty darn good. I realized it today when she passed by her floaties and jumped in the pool (beautiful belly flop) and swam to the side...coming up for air. Declaring that she no longer needs me to be in the water, she can do it all by herself.
Why would I be so over protective? After all I used to throw the boys in the pool and yell swim or drown!!! They became very strong swimmers.
So I told Livi she could go floatie free. As I was watching the girls play Nemo and shark (a game they made up) I noticed Livi was swimming in to the jet. The jet is pretty powerful and Livi was swimming but not moving due to the jet blowing. I got nervous that she was going to run out of air so what did I do.....I jumped in to save her....shoes and all (yes I had a bathingsuit on but I also had a dress on over it). I pulled her up quickly and sat her on the step. Yelling "Livi, you scared me half to death".
As Livi was laughing she said "Mommy, you are not supposed to wear your shoes in the pool".

OMW... that is funny but not funny...
Livi thought you were just playing....as you were sooo scared.. I think we are a little bit more protective of our girls then the boys.. thinking the boys are stronger.. but they really aren't..
Have a great week..
Hugs..
Silly mommy...no shoes in the pool! That's a cute one!
I had to jump in with my clothes on to get my son when he was about the same age and he called me his super hero for years.
That picture of Livi is gorgeous! Love the hat!
The kids seem to be really enjoying the pool. I wish it would stay warm here for 2 days in a row, lol.
Oh my word! I have a feeling I'll be doing the same exact thing! LOL @ her scolding you for wearing your shoes. :)
That brings back memories up when my son was little he brought a friend over to swim in our above ground pool and Andrew was such a good swimmer that I would just sit and watch in a lawn chair on the deck. The friend of his had a life jacket but took it off because Andrew wasn't wearing his and about that time Andrew yelled and I went in with jean shorts and tennis shoes in to get Josh out! I made him get out so we could remind him that he should always wear the jacket in the pool and he said "I'm ok, geez Andrew your mom is no fun" lol.......
I think Miss Livi might be part fish...tho it is scary when stuff like this happens. I'd have jumped in too!!!!
I am sorry....had to laugh at the visual of you going in the water shoes and all!! But in all seriousness, I am glad that she was okay.....that is one of the things that has always scared me about pools. I am always a nervous wreck when we go to my sister in laws....Sarah has no fear!
Hope you are doing well!!
Lisa
I bet you could laugh now, but whew, I'd have done the same! What a scary moment and good thing you were there:))
I am sooooooooo glad Livi is okay, she seems to know all the rules around the house!
Beautfiul girl love that hat!
Oh that would have been soooooo me too! Being that we live on a lake and have a pool.....I am always thinking about the water issue....you did the right thing....they do need to have a little fear....hope you are well....maybe we can chat this week!
hugs,
Steffie
Wow - great instincts mommy!! It's funny that Livi was unphased and had to make a joke! Glad she was ok and hopefully she will be a strong and confident swimmer by mid summer!
